Hello October: A Love Letter to a New Month

There’s something about October that feels like a reset. The air shifts, the light softens, and life seems to invite a slower, more intentional rhythm. This month, I’m leaning into cozy layers, meaningful gatherings, and the joy of celebrating life in all its forms.

Hello, October

There’s always been something magical about October. Maybe it’s the way the mornings feel cooler, the colors get richer, or how the world seems to invite us to slow down just enough to savor.

Like many of you, I look at this month as a reset. A chance to pause, reflect, and reimagine how I want the rest of the year to feel. It’s a season of cozy layers, candlelit dinners, and celebrations that lean more into connection than perfection.

This year especially, October feels like a season of gratitude. 2025 has been full of highs, lows, and in-betweens. But I’m reminded that life, at its best, is about creating moments that feel intentional and joy-filled.

Celebrating Life in All Forms

October isn’t just about cozy nights in (though I love those, too). For me, it’s about embracing celebrations on every level—big or small, formal or spontaneous. A brunch with friends. A walk under changing leaves. An evening at home with a favorite playlist and candlelight.

It’s also about designing spaces and experiences that make people feel seen, thought of, and cared for. That is, and always will be, the heart of my work.

What I’m Loving Right Now

To start the month, I’ve curated a few of my October favorites—pieces that bring a sense of ease, style, and beauty into everyday life.

Looking Ahead

This October also marks something deeply special for me: the presale of my newest book, The Art of Celebrating: Inspiration and Ideas for Meaningful Gatherings.

It has been a true labor of love—filled with late nights, edits, and so much intention. I cannot wait for you to experience the inspiration, tips, and ideas that I poured into these pages. It’s more than a book—it’s a reminder that every moment is worth celebrating.

So, here’s to October. To cozy mornings and candlelit nights. To gatherings big and small. To slowing down enough to notice the beauty all around us.

Happy new month, friends. Let’s make it one worth celebrating.

xx,
Akeshi

P.S. My book The Art of Celebrating is now available for presale! I would love your support in pre-ordering here.
