Fall Cocktail Recipes to Try (and Their Mocktail Twins)

From cozy evenings by the fire to intimate dinner parties, these fall cocktails — and their mocktail counterparts — are a celebration of flavor, warmth, and intention. Each sip is designed to make guests feel thought of, whether they’re raising a glass of whiskey or a sparkling soda spritz.

Fall has a way of inviting us to slow down and savor. It’s a season of rich flavors, layered textures, and cozy gatherings that bring people closer together. Whether you’re hosting a dinner party, celebrating outdoors, or simply enjoying a quiet evening in, the right drink sets the mood.

Here are a few of my favorite cocktail recipes for the season — each with a thoughtful, alcohol-free alternative so everyone can join in the celebration.

1. Maple Rosemary Whiskey Smash

Vibe: Warm, aromatic, and perfectly balanced — a fall favorite that’s simple yet sophisticated.

You’ll Need:

  • 2 oz bourbon or whiskey

  • ½ oz pure maple syrup

  • ¾ oz fresh lemon juice

  • 1 rosemary sprig

  • Crushed ice

To Make:
In a shaker, muddle the rosemary with lemon juice and maple syrup to release its aroma. Add whiskey, shake with ice, and strain into a glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a fresh rosemary sprig.

Mocktail Twin:
Replace the whiskey with chilled black tea or a splash of apple cider for a warm, herbal flavor. Shake and strain as above. Finish with rosemary and a twist of lemon.

2. Rosemary Lemon Sparkler

Vibe: Bright, aromatic, and elegant — a cocktail that feels both fresh and timeless.

You’ll Need:

  • 1 oz gin

  • ½ oz rosemary simple syrup

  • ½ oz fresh lemon juice

  • Top with Prosecco or soda water

  • Rosemary sprig for garnish

To Make:
Add gin, rosemary syrup, and lemon juice to a shaker with ice. Shake, strain into a coupe or flute, and top with Prosecco or sparkling soda. Garnish with a rosemary sprig.

Mocktail Twin:
Skip the gin and swap in a splash of non-alcoholic gin or sparkling lemonade. Add the rosemary syrup and lemon juice, top with soda, and finish with rosemary. Light, bright, and perfect for daytime hosting.

3. Elderflower Royale

Vibe: Light, floral, and effervescent — a spritz that captures weekend ease and effortless elegance.

You’ll Need:

  • 1 oz St-Germain Elderflower Liqueur

  • 3 oz chilled Prosecco

  • 1 oz club soda

  • ½ oz fresh lemon juice

  • Edible flower or lemon twist for garnish

To Make:
Fill a coupe or wine glass with ice. Add St-Germain, lemon juice, and club soda. Top with Prosecco, stir gently, and garnish with an edible flower or lemon twist.

Mocktail Twin:
Use elderflower cordial instead of St-Germain, and top with sparkling white grape juice and soda. Add a squeeze of lemon and garnish with an edible flower for that same graceful finish.

4. The Mother — Signature Seasonal Blend

Vibe: Soft, comforting, and nostalgic — inspired by my mother, who infused every gathering with warmth, care, and love.

You’ll Need:

  • 2 oz apple cider

  • 1 oz ginger syrup

  • ½ oz fresh lemon juice

  • Dash of cinnamon or clove

  • Sparkling water to top

To Make:
Shake apple cider, ginger syrup, lemon juice, and spices with ice. Strain into a glass and top with sparkling water. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or thin apple slice.

Mocktail Twin:
This one is the mocktail — but for a spirited version, add a splash of spiced rum or bourbon.

This drink is a nod to the kind of hospitality I learned watching my mother — warm, thoughtful, and from the heart.

A Toast to Thoughtful Hosting

Fall cocktails don’t have to be complicated — they just need heart.
As with every detail of entertaining, intention makes all the difference. Whether you’re mixing a rosemary spritz or pouring cider over ice, the beauty lies in making your guests feel seen and included.

Here’s to celebrating the season, one beautiful sip at a time.
