Cocktails of the Season: 3 Recipes I’m Loving This Fall

There’s something about fall that makes me crave a well-crafted cocktail. The kind that feels like a moment—warm, aromatic, and full of flavor. Whether you’re hosting friends or simply unwinding at home, these three drinks capture the essence of the season beautifully.

A Toast to the Season

Fall cocktails are all about comfort and depth—warm spices, smooth textures, and subtle sweetness. I love experimenting with seasonal ingredients like maple, pear, and honey, layered with spirits that feel rich and refined.

And of course, no cocktail moment is complete without beautiful glassware and thoughtful presentation. Because how we serve something matters just as much as what’s in it.

1. The Spiced Maple Old Fashioned

A warm, smooth cocktail that feels like autumn in a glass. Perfect for fireside evenings or intimate dinner parties.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz bourbon

  • ½ oz maple syrup

  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters

  • Orange peel

  • Cinnamon stick (for garnish)

How to Make It:

  1. Add bourbon, maple syrup, and bitters to a mixing glass with ice.

  2. Stir until well chilled.

  3. Strain into a rocks glass over a large ice cube.

  4. Express the orange peel over the glass and drop it in.

  5. Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Mocktail Alternative:
Replace bourbon with strong-brewed black tea or zero-proof whiskey and add a splash of orange juice for warmth.

The Autumn Pear Spritz Fall Cocktail

2. The Autumn Pear Spritz

Light, sparkling, and subtly sweet—this is my go-to cocktail for brunches and fall gatherings.

Ingredients:

  • 1½ oz pear vodka or gin

  • ½ oz elderflower liqueur (like St-Germain)

  • 2 oz sparkling wine or prosecco

  • 1 oz pear nectar

  • Sliced pear + rosemary sprig (for garnish)

How to Make It:

  1. Add pear vodka, elderflower liqueur, and pear nectar to a cocktail shaker with ice.

  2. Shake lightly and strain into a coupe or flute.

  3. Top with sparkling wine.

  4. Garnish with a thin pear slice and rosemary sprig.

Mocktail Alternative:
Swap the spirits for pear nectar + elderflower tonic, topped with sparkling water.

3. The Autumn Whiskey Smash with Mint & Honey

Refreshing yet warm, this cocktail blends smooth whiskey with the brightness of fresh mint and the sweetness of honey. It’s simple, balanced, and perfect for crisp evenings.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz whiskey (I love a good rye or bourbon for depth)

  • ¾ oz freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • ½ oz honey syrup (1 part honey + 1 part warm water)

  • 4–6 fresh mint leaves

  • Ice

  • Mint sprig + lemon wheel (for garnish)

How to Make It:

  1. In a shaker, muddle the mint leaves with honey syrup and lemon juice.

  2. Add whiskey and ice, then shake vigorously for 15 seconds.

  3. Double strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.

  4. Garnish with a mint sprig and lemon wheel.

Mocktail Alternative:
Skip the whiskey and add a splash of ginger beer or iced black tea for a refreshing, alcohol-free version.

Cocktails of the Season: 3 Recipes I’m Loving This Fall

Hosting Tip

When I host, I love creating a small “seasonal cocktail station.”
It’s not just functional—it’s an experience. Include:

  • A signature drink recipe card

  • Beautiful glassware

  • A bowl of garnishes (citrus, herbs, cinnamon sticks)

  • A cozy candle nearby for ambiance

Your guests will love it, and it becomes a beautiful focal point of the evening.

Whether you’re mixing cocktails for a fall dinner party or enjoying a quiet evening at home, these recipes are designed to bring warmth and connection into your moments.

Here’s to celebrating the season—one sip at a time.
